On day 2 of living without a bus pass, you start realizing that you have to take your rides where you can find them. This is the reason I'm sitting at my local library 3.5 hrs before Knitting Circle starts.
I hope I packed my bag well. I've got a variety of knitting projects in my bag which currently contains Blankie, the Shapely Boyfriend Cardigan, the Tulip Socks, the Pirouette Socks and the Stitch Surfer Socks. Knitting as entertainment is covered.
And on top of the knitting projects I have a new book to read called "Flood" by Stephen Baxter. Too bad I have not mastered the art of reading and knitting at the same time. I really want to get to the second book, "Ark", since that is what grabbed my attention. However you can't do a book series without reading the books in proper order or else the whole story just doesn't work out the way the author intended. For example, reading "Garden of Shadows" by V.C. Andrews before reading "Flowers in the Attic". Did that when I was younger and realized it completely ruined the somewhat innocence of "Flowers in the Attic" is just wrong.
Hopefully soon, the latest episode of Arrow will finish downloading on my phone so I can watch it again. OMG! It was such a good episode and there are still 2 more episodes left for the season. I will be spending the summer hiatus from new episodes by catching up on Vampire Diaries (which I have not watched since I started going to the Thursday Knitting Circle), Elementary (which Global TV has left me feeling totally confused as to which Thursdays the show airs) and re-watching Arrow from the beginning of the season.
So off now I go to start knitting something, probably Blankie or Shapely Boyfriend since it doesn't require much concentration so I can watch Arrow at the same time...when it finishes downloading.

From books to socks
Knit to Flatter. I have been keeping a web page open on my phone for the past 2 weeks on the Webs store for this book. This is going to be another one of those books that will be added to my collection but I have no idea when. I guess because I am still loving the Shapely Boyfriend cardigan that I am wanting a useful book to reflect this. It happened with socks; I have 6 books and an ebook about socks.
Tulip Socks. These socks are going much more quickly than anticipated. I finished the gusset without knowing I was finished. I'm pretty sure if I worked solely on these socks, I'd have this foot done by late tomorrow night.
I tried on this sock for the first time and I should have gone smaller. They leg feels like my Monkey socks which were knit with needles that were too big. If I do these again I'm going with the medium instead of the large.
Unfortunately for the Tulip Socks, I have been eyeing the now full jar of sock yarn leftovers and it's calling me "work on the Blankie!" I think I'm going to answer the calling within the next couple of rows.

This Sunday was awesome
I got to go to The Purple Purple, dragging my cousin along with me. I didn't really have a plan in mind other than get there before they closed for inventory at 2p. I left with a skein of Indigodragonfly's MCN Sock in the colourway Groverkill (selected mostly on the name choice) and a skein of Tanis Fiber Arts' Blue Sock Label in the colourway Buttercup (because I don't have any bright yellow yarns).
I made sure I left with a Purly Points card this time. I forgot to do that last time after I spent over $40 for sock yarn.
From there, my cousin, B1, and I walked to The Taste of the Danforth. We kept seeing the cutest dogs and I wish I had gotten more than 1 picture. We did see some interesting art work on the bridge as we walked.
The food was excellent. Really enjoyed my gyros, Baskin Robbins' Gold Medal Ribbon ice cream (favorite!) and a frozen lemonade from Tim Hortons...wait, I forgot the perrogies I shared with my cousin that I wasn't overly fond of. We also stopped in a bookstore and bought the first Game of Thrones book. I'm letting B1 read it first since I still have my Star Trek novel to finish. And here's the Henna B1 got done.
It was a good day and I'm ending it by watching the Olympic Closing Ceremonies.
The rest of the weekend was pretty good too. On Friday I went over with B1 and B2 (B1's younger sister) to my dad's house. My little sister J decided she wanted to help me knit by making my yarn softer. Let me preface this by letting you know my sister hasn't even reached 4 years old. She "helped" by pulling the yarn out of the caked skein and squishing it in her hands, creating a ball of something that lead from the skein to the sock I was currently knitting. No on could persuade her to stop. I told her that the yarn was soft enough. J's response? I'm making it softer! B2 tried to help. My sister was distracted for less than 10 seconds to "help" me. B1 tried telling J that one of my brother's N was calling her. J gave B1 a side look and told her "N can wait. I'm making the yarn softer." Yes, my baby sister has a massive attitude. I just salvaged what I could and closed up my knitting pan.
Friday night however had me falling asleep to the music of 10-30 European neighbors singing at the top of their lungs in the backyard. Some of the neighbors didn't appreciate it but I enjoyed it. It had harmony and everyone was in key and I was in the house in a bed, ready to sleep.
So I'm going to leave now to go play my Sims 2 game. Bye!

Got my Book
Remember a couple posts ago about my local library system being anti-Trekkers/Trekkies? And how I was going to have to buy the book on kobo because of their frequent coupons?
If only I had scrolled down I would have seen that coupons cannot be used with the purchase of the book anyways :(
So I bought the book; Star Trek: The Next Generation: Greater Than the Sum. Why does it have so many colons in the title? I have no idea but I am enjoying the book do far.
It has a Human/Vulcan hybrid named T'...something who took the opposit approach of Spock and loves ignoring basic protocol and running with her feelings. As of yet, there are only 5 characters between TNG & VOY that I recognize. I'm shocked that Piccard got married but I do like who he married to. Worf is now Number Obe. Seven is going by her real name of Annika Hansen and now a professor but there's no sign of Chakotay. Seemed like their relationship was going somewhere at the end of VOY but no mention of him yet. They did mention Wesley Crusher (also known as Sheldon old nemesis on Big Bang Theory). I forgot he went off with the alien race of gifted people. I actually had to go look it up on google.
On a completely different note, my feet are cold and I wish I packed my favorite socks (or any socks for that matter). Take a gander at my BFF socks (designed by Cookie A.)
