Great inspiration

I took today as my laundry day. It's 2 weeks worth of clothing for 2 week long trips. This means I was finally able to wash the Tulips and the Pirouette socks.

By washing the socks and hanging them out to dry on the line, I finally got to really feel them. They feel so nice! I was more worried about the Tulips more than anything. This was the first time I have ever washed any yarn that I have dyed.  From what I can see, I didn't loose any colour. This gives me great hope that I was doing it right :)

This whole "washing of the socks" also is a great way to nudge me back to finishing my socks.

The Spock socks have been picked back up. I may just finish the pair before going on to the Tiberius socks.

Come-a-long Update

The Tulips have finally been finished. It was my only...no one of the only - projects I worked on in the past week. They are slouchy in the leg because I should have gone for a smaller size but I don't care.  They'll be like my Monkey socks which are great for wearing around the house.  What makes me prouder is that I dyed the yarn all by myself (and I have no notes as to how I did it in the first place so I can't repeat the process).  

I made a joke about all I would have to do to make me feel more accomplished was to raise the sheet and spin the yarn from it's wool.  Someone thought I actually spun the the yarn.  I am definitely not at that point yet.

The other project I was working on was the Anklet.  And I don't have enough yarn to make it to the toe.  Therefore I am going to have to go to the ball that the cuff and heel came from, take off mini balls of yarn (because whoever donated the ball to the library knitting circle and then to me seemed to cut randomly into the ball and I can make little balls around 2g a pop) and do part of the foot as well.  I don't think I'm looking forward to repeating that for the second foot.

Once the Tulips were done, I immediately casted on for a new pair of socks for the Sock Club.  I am doing the Spock Socks, in a science officer blue (because that is the only colour that make sense).

I'm still trying to decide between to balls of yarn for a Command yellow for the other pair for the month called the Tiberius (obviously in reference to Capt. James. T. Kirk).  

This on is a Knitpicks Stroll Tonal in Golden Glow.

This one will require more work as in an overdye. This one is from Tanis Fiber Arts, Blue Label in Buttercup.

So close!

I worked ridiculously hard to finish the Tulip sock by tonight and I wasn't able to finish it. 

I ended up going to a baby shower today. Left the house around 1pm and didn't get back home just before midnight. I got some knitting in before I left this morning. I did some more while at the baby shower and did even more while relaxing at a friends house, watching the NBA finals. I managed to make it to a couple of rows into the toe. I know I made ALOT of progress within 24 hours.

I'll definitely have it done tomorrow. I do have a doctor's appointment and that means waiting room knitting.

With the amount of time I spent out of my house today, I couldn't even prep a Come-a-long Update so hopefully I'll be able to do it tomorrow.

I'm ready

I've got my room temperature water, a podcast series to listen to, my Pirouette socks on my feet and my Tulip socks read to get knitted.

The plan is to make a big dent if not finish it tonight. ETA: I only have 1.5 more pattern repeats before the toe left. The Tulips are looking very finishable for tomorrow.

So cousin B1 was right. There was no yarn waiting for me when I got home. I can't pick out a replacement yarn until I see the patterns on Monday but a skein of Tanis will be used.

Come-a-long Update

Now the Pirouettes are truly done! And I LOVE them!  They still need to be washed but I'm going to wait until I have a few more pairs of socks to throw them in.

I casted on for the second sock of the Tulips. I'm a little bit under halfway on the leg but I expect by the end of today, I will be much further along.

I'm only 3/4 of the way through 1 sock for my friend's baby. The shower is next Sunday, and I had wanted to make 2 pairs. I need to get on that.

I can finally resume working on my Hermione's whatever-whatever. I found a yarn shop in Hamilton that I love that sells Knitter's Pride DPN, which are almost the same as Harmony DPNs and I could rightly afford. No rush in this mittens. The completed hand is already hot enough as it is, much less both.

The Sproulette Dress yarn, needles and pattern has been placed in the freezer sized ziplock bag...and it's due for 2 weeks from now. Just found out that's when the baby shower is. I think right after I finish the Tulip socks and the baby socks (real quickly), I'll have to get started on the baby dress which I have never attempted to do before.

I have an FO!

I can finally say that my Pirouette Socks are finally finished and I am pleased with them.  

I heaved a huge sigh of relief when they were finished not because I was tired of making them but because I have way too many projects that need to be done.  I'm still not finished the baby socks.  I am 3/4 of the way through the first sock and I want to have at least 2 pairs by the time the shower rolls around (that gives me a couple of weeks).  I have my Tulip Socks that I want to have finished before I get the next set of patterns from the sock club (that gives me a couple of weeks).  

Those are the only 2 deadlines I have other than wanting to do the Sproulette Dress for the other baby and I haven't even caked the yarn.  Heck, it took me this long to finally get the Peacock Fury off of my swift.  I just did it this morning and only because I had the Thursday Knitting Circle tonight and I wouldn't have anything to use if I didn't do it. Talk about procrastination.

Last night, after I kitchenered the toe of Pirouette Socks, I was introduced to an online comic about knitters called Worsted for Wear. I didn't go to bed until almost 2 am because I was laughing too hard and I still didn't even finish until this morning.

So true, LOL!

I almost managed it!

Today was a "Let's hurry up and finish sock #1 of the Tulips" day. Despite the fact that I indeed did a lot of work on said sock, I am still not done the toe. Tomorrow I shall complete it and then work on the Shapely Boyfriend.

I'm working out a project schedule for the week. Yesterday was the Pirouettes. Today was the Tulips. Tomorrow is finishing off the toe for the Tulips and then the Shapely Boyfriend cardigan. Wednesday so far is scheduled for a Blankie day. Thursday is a sock club day which means either the Tulips or Pirouettes. Fridays and Saturdays are hard to schedule due to the travelling but it will probably be the other sock club sock. I still have to schedule a time to work on the other WIPs like the Bex, Dark Isle and the Stitch Surfer. Once I finish one of the sock club socks, I'll pick one of them.

So I am not the only one...

Someone on Ravelry complimented me on Peacock Fury. I told them I dyed it myself. And then I had to tell them that I don't know exactly what's in it anymore. I felt so bad.

I received a gift today. T came to me today with a bag full of left over yarn for my "50 year" Sock Blankie (although T has amended it to 40 years). I haven't even properly been through the bag but I can't wait to knit some knew squares. But not until I make more progress with my Pirouette and Tulip socks.

I got the help I needed for the Pirouette Socks. I am well and ready to continue. I'm actually excited to continue again. I'm still working on the Tulip Socks. I'm not at the help flap but I plan to be ready to start it before I go to bed. Forget about finishing the flap tonight. I got a long day ahead of me tomorrow and I need my sleep.

Knitting with Peacock Fury - Part 2

This Tulip pattern is knitting up so well! I've completed the cuff, the set-up and one leg repeat. I may make it to the heel flap by tomorrow evening. Of course I could have waited until tomorrow to do this update but I've gotten so used to posting an entry at this time, that I wrote it anyways.

I think it's really bad how much of a procrastinator I am. I have had this mini plot rolling around in my head for awhile and as of get, I still haven't written anything down but a character's name: Neil Harrow. I think I'll be going to the library early tomorrow since I seem to be very productive when I'm there.

Almost Unmovtivated

I keep looking at the bag with the Pirouette socks and get frustrated.  I don't even have to open the bag or move it from its spot hanging off the headboard of my bed.  I don't know if I think that I messed it up or if I'm too scared of doing it wrong.  I still need help with it...and as I type this and remember that it's Tuesday, I could have gone to see T today to get help...excuse me as I bang my head on the keyboard ;jlaksfd

I haven't reached the point where I'm going to frog it but I wanted to knit again and still being otherwise frustrated with my DPNs situation from yesterday, I casted on for the other sock club socks called Tulip.  The plan was to use Grapfruit Sunrise from the Tosh-Along that I dyed earlier on this year but the skein is frustrating me (see a lot of frustrating me).  The skein came from Knitpicks and is the Bare Stroll Sock.  It doesn't seem to come skeined like everyone else, including their skeined sock yarn.  I did somewhat notice it when I was dyeing it but figured I was just not looking at it correctly and it would "fix" itself when I was ready to use it.

Well it didn't.  I couldn't even place it properly on the swift.  I didn't want to cut the starting string so I skeined it back to the figure 8 and put it back on the shelf.  It's reasons like this that make me not want to order it again.  I pulled out my BFL Peacock Fury.  It caked beautifully and I casted on no problem for the Tulip Socks on the 1.5 US DPNs, one of the few sizes where there are no missing or broken needles.

This also gives me another project to do.  I did one successful re-dye of Carol's Eyes so in theory, I should be able to re-dye Grapefruit Sunrise if I get another undyed skein right?

I'm currently travelling with the Tulip Socks, the Hermione whatever-whatevers, the Shapely Boyfriend Cardigan, which are all stashed in my backpack while I hem and haw over which project to work on while at the Tuesday Knitting Circle.  I think I can save the Tulip socks for when I reach back home to watch Dancing with the Stars, Jimmy Fallon and Castle.  I think the Shapely Boyfriend might be the project of choice, especially since I do have to finish fixing my error.  Maybe tomorrow will get a progress picture of it.
