Great inspiration

I took today as my laundry day. It's 2 weeks worth of clothing for 2 week long trips. This means I was finally able to wash the Tulips and the Pirouette socks.

By washing the socks and hanging them out to dry on the line, I finally got to really feel them. They feel so nice! I was more worried about the Tulips more than anything. This was the first time I have ever washed any yarn that I have dyed.  From what I can see, I didn't loose any colour. This gives me great hope that I was doing it right :)

This whole "washing of the socks" also is a great way to nudge me back to finishing my socks.

The Spock socks have been picked back up. I may just finish the pair before going on to the Tiberius socks.

Come-a-long Update

Now the Pirouettes are truly done! And I LOVE them!  They still need to be washed but I'm going to wait until I have a few more pairs of socks to throw them in.

I casted on for the second sock of the Tulips. I'm a little bit under halfway on the leg but I expect by the end of today, I will be much further along.

I'm only 3/4 of the way through 1 sock for my friend's baby. The shower is next Sunday, and I had wanted to make 2 pairs. I need to get on that.

I can finally resume working on my Hermione's whatever-whatever. I found a yarn shop in Hamilton that I love that sells Knitter's Pride DPN, which are almost the same as Harmony DPNs and I could rightly afford. No rush in this mittens. The completed hand is already hot enough as it is, much less both.

The Sproulette Dress yarn, needles and pattern has been placed in the freezer sized ziplock bag...and it's due for 2 weeks from now. Just found out that's when the baby shower is. I think right after I finish the Tulip socks and the baby socks (real quickly), I'll have to get started on the baby dress which I have never attempted to do before.

I have an FO!

I can finally say that my Pirouette Socks are finally finished and I am pleased with them.  

I heaved a huge sigh of relief when they were finished not because I was tired of making them but because I have way too many projects that need to be done.  I'm still not finished the baby socks.  I am 3/4 of the way through the first sock and I want to have at least 2 pairs by the time the shower rolls around (that gives me a couple of weeks).  I have my Tulip Socks that I want to have finished before I get the next set of patterns from the sock club (that gives me a couple of weeks).  

Those are the only 2 deadlines I have other than wanting to do the Sproulette Dress for the other baby and I haven't even caked the yarn.  Heck, it took me this long to finally get the Peacock Fury off of my swift.  I just did it this morning and only because I had the Thursday Knitting Circle tonight and I wouldn't have anything to use if I didn't do it. Talk about procrastination.

Last night, after I kitchenered the toe of Pirouette Socks, I was introduced to an online comic about knitters called Worsted for Wear. I didn't go to bed until almost 2 am because I was laughing too hard and I still didn't even finish until this morning.

So true, LOL!

Missing things

I have been having one of those days (well it has been a few days) that I am missing something terribly and as of yet, there's nothing I can do.

I had to make up a spreadsheet to keep score of a quiz challenge at my church. Of course I couldn't make it simple. I had to have it start looking up information. Since I hadn't really done it in awhile, I had to go to the spreadsheets I had created for my Sims 2 game.

I started looking over the information in the file which left me wanting to play them again. I wanted to see Felton graduate university. I wanted to see how many kids Mr. Fuchs would spawn. I wanted to see how the recently opened farming section would grow. Unfortunately for me, the DVD rom drive on the computer doesn't work and it hasn't worked for months.

When I finally do get a fully functional computer, I'm pretty sure I'll start from scratch all over again, another Prosperity Challenge along with the beginning of the Complex. I'll have fun building the neighbourhoods and creating a new spreadsheet tracker. Maybe I should start rolling for the Prosperity Hood from now :)

On another note, I got to spend the evening with some of my cousins for one of my cousins sweet 16.  They throw good impromptu birthday.  Found out two of the cousins are fanfiction writers.  I can't wait to read what they wrote :)

I'm off to bed now.  It's almost 11 and despite the fact that I said that would put up a picture of the progress of my Pirouette socks but I didn't take them.  I just started the toes and maybe tomorrow, if I find the time, I'll finish it off and the Pirouette socks will be done!

I even packed a back up project of my Shapely Boyfriend Cardigan that I'm pretty certain I will not be getting to it at all for the weekend.  Oh well!  I'll catch up on it when I start catching up on tv shows online.

Left over

I'm pretty sure I'm going to have a lot of leftover yarn from the Pirouette Socks. I tried to do a 50/50 division from the skein. The first cake is just about to finish and I'm only a few rows before starting the heel flap. I think I'll try to see if I have enough to do a pair of anklets out the remainder, or at least one foot of one.

Alright, this sock seems to be a bit different now. I had to go an extra two rows before I could start the heel flap. I hope it won't be so noticeable.

I should be finished with the heel flap quite soon and hopefully before in go to bed tonight, the turn heel will be finished soon. Then the real fun begins and the pair will be finished very soon.

Come-a-long Blog Update

This week has been a multi project week. I managed to finish 1 foot of each sock for the April/May in the sock club.

I'm almost half way through knitting the second sock of the Pirouette Socks. It seems so much easier the second time around. I think the next time I knit these socks, I'm going to go with Cookie's alternative of using yarn over instead of the various make ones. Let's see if I remember this when I'm ready to do these again.

The Tulips (right sock from the first picture) will be worked on when the Pirouettes are done. Seems like by this time next week, I will have started on it.

I still have multiple socks that I have to do the 2nd sock for: Stitch Surfer, Dark Isle, Bex. Lots of work to keep me busy.

I didn't even make it one day

So Tuesday was supposed to be a Shapely Boyfriend day, after I finished the Tulip sock. It took quite some time before I managed to even get around to the Tulips. It wasn't until I was halfway through the Tuesday Knitting Circle. But guess what? I have 2 completed socks and they look lovely!

(A/N: I am loving the fact that I can now place pictures in the middle of an update via my phone!)

I admired my socks and showed them off and then picked up the cuff for the right Pirouette sock and started knitting. The Shapely Boyfriend didn't even make it out of my backpack. Who knows when it will be worked on.

Tomorrow is still going to be a Blankie day. I got some yarn from the Tulip socks to be added :)

Excuse me as I have a love affair with my sock

I finally reached the point where I can try on my Pirouette socks without worrying about the needles coming out. Let me just say that I love this sock. I'm contemplating if I should stop where I am and finish the foot of the Tulip socks or if I should just go right onto the right sock and finish the Pirouettes.

I am pretty certain that I want to make these again! Once the panel is finished, the twist really does happen.

Final sock observation for the day, I'm keeping both of the socks for this month. So that will be 3 pairs of socks for me by the end of May plus 2 more pairs that I'm also in the middle of making - for me!

Lighter Bag

The bag is lighter today. I only have the Tulip Socks and Pirouette Socks, which are both coming along nicely. And I guess since the Pirouettes are simple again (meaning I am no longer immensely confused), I already want to make them again. I don't even have an earmarked yarn for it either.

I belatedly realized I started on the wrong row for the foot portion of the Pirouettes. I didn't even notice it until last night.. Meh! Still looks good.

So I am not the only one...

Someone on Ravelry complimented me on Peacock Fury. I told them I dyed it myself. And then I had to tell them that I don't know exactly what's in it anymore. I felt so bad.

I received a gift today. T came to me today with a bag full of left over yarn for my "50 year" Sock Blankie (although T has amended it to 40 years). I haven't even properly been through the bag but I can't wait to knit some knew squares. But not until I make more progress with my Pirouette and Tulip socks.

I got the help I needed for the Pirouette Socks. I am well and ready to continue. I'm actually excited to continue again. I'm still working on the Tulip Socks. I'm not at the help flap but I plan to be ready to start it before I go to bed. Forget about finishing the flap tonight. I got a long day ahead of me tomorrow and I need my sleep.

Almost Unmovtivated

I keep looking at the bag with the Pirouette socks and get frustrated.  I don't even have to open the bag or move it from its spot hanging off the headboard of my bed.  I don't know if I think that I messed it up or if I'm too scared of doing it wrong.  I still need help with it...and as I type this and remember that it's Tuesday, I could have gone to see T today to get help...excuse me as I bang my head on the keyboard ;jlaksfd

I haven't reached the point where I'm going to frog it but I wanted to knit again and still being otherwise frustrated with my DPNs situation from yesterday, I casted on for the other sock club socks called Tulip.  The plan was to use Grapfruit Sunrise from the Tosh-Along that I dyed earlier on this year but the skein is frustrating me (see a lot of frustrating me).  The skein came from Knitpicks and is the Bare Stroll Sock.  It doesn't seem to come skeined like everyone else, including their skeined sock yarn.  I did somewhat notice it when I was dyeing it but figured I was just not looking at it correctly and it would "fix" itself when I was ready to use it.

Well it didn't.  I couldn't even place it properly on the swift.  I didn't want to cut the starting string so I skeined it back to the figure 8 and put it back on the shelf.  It's reasons like this that make me not want to order it again.  I pulled out my BFL Peacock Fury.  It caked beautifully and I casted on no problem for the Tulip Socks on the 1.5 US DPNs, one of the few sizes where there are no missing or broken needles.

This also gives me another project to do.  I did one successful re-dye of Carol's Eyes so in theory, I should be able to re-dye Grapefruit Sunrise if I get another undyed skein right?

I'm currently travelling with the Tulip Socks, the Hermione whatever-whatevers, the Shapely Boyfriend Cardigan, which are all stashed in my backpack while I hem and haw over which project to work on while at the Tuesday Knitting Circle.  I think I can save the Tulip socks for when I reach back home to watch Dancing with the Stars, Jimmy Fallon and Castle.  I think the Shapely Boyfriend might be the project of choice, especially since I do have to finish fixing my error.  Maybe tomorrow will get a progress picture of it.

Because...hold on...two isn't enough

I started on the heel flap for the Pirouette socks and instead of working furiously to finish the heel flap, I pulled out my size 2US DPNs and casted on for Hermione's Flip Top Mittens (with flip top to truly cover my fingers). I have to say it; I am LOVING the yarn I'm knitting with. It's the DK weight yarn I dyed on Sunday. I'm calling it "Carol's Eyes" due to a Ravelry user saying it looks like her eye colour. Also keep in mind I have never actually seen Carol or her eyes.

I don't think I'm going to knit them full length since I don't have enough of the Carol's Eyes to do it.

Twirly Whirly

Still working on the Pirouette socks and I should be starting the heel flap soon and you know what that means. Heel Flap=Sock almost done! The plan is to progress onto the next April sock Ed the Tulips. I had to get a second opinion for what yarn to use. I was going to use a solid yellow from Tanis however I saw someone else's Tulips in a variegated yarn and I decided to use one of my hand dyed; either the Peacock Fury (BFL) or the Grapefruit Sunrise (Merino), both have nylon.

I showed T the newest skein I dyed. She loves the colour but agrees with me that it's too thin for the fingerless gloves I wanted to knit. Therefore, I found another pair of fingerless gloves with a flip top.

The weather today was ridiculous. I had to pull out my winter coat and boots.

Four and a half inches

That is how far I've reached on the Pirouette socks. I'm going to try to reach to row 24 again before I go to bed; just another 8 rows to go.

Tonight was the art exhibit at the library. I got to display my batik vases and I finally got to see the art work of the other students. I am really hoping they run this again over the summer. I definitely enjoyed at and would love to make another one.

Better times ahead

So I went ahead and restarted the Pirouette socks. There are looking much better and...yea, I'm liking the progress. I think I've decided that I will do the other sock pattern as well, Tulip socks. I've read from others that it's kind of like the Monkey socks, perhaps in Tanis Blue in the Sunshine colourway. It's about time I started using the Tanis I have in my stash..

On a sad note, I just realized there will not be a Sock Summit anymore. I was looking forward to attempting to go. I guess I could try to do a staycation, and go out and buy yarn and different LYS's and spend a week or so working on socks; providing I have a job where I can actually accumulate vacation days to do a staycation. It is a plan though.

I didn't touch the the Shapely Boyfriend today other than to show it to Knitting Circle #1. It was to be expected since I am working on my socks.

Now to plug into a podcast until 11p while knitting the Pirouette socks.
