While I did work on the Ladder to the Sky socks, they're still not done. The gusset is finished though and I do look forward to wearing them.
I worked mostly on my brother RJ's scarf which is growing quickly but it needs to be about double the size. His birthday is coming up in less than 3 weeks and I haven't even started the hat.
In an effort to free up some of my projects on circular needles, I finally started working on the "Forget Hermione! These are for me" mittens by transferring them onto the brand new Knitter's Pride DPNs that I purchased to replace the set I had kneeled on. I am getting excited about them again.
The new pattern(s) that intrigued (http://thisismetryingtobeawriter.blogspot.ca/2013/09/what-sock-yarn-isnt-only-for-socks.html?m=1) me this week is the "Earth & Sky" shawl by Stephen West. I bought the pattern, picked out potential yarn and now I'm trying to locate the 4US 47" circular needles that I apparently own but cannot find. The second pattern is the "Chadwick" shawl. I'll get around to that one once I can actually start the "Earth & Sky", which will not be for awhile but here are the pattern pictures of both of them.
Oh my! Those socks! I love them! The Stephen West shawl is pretty cool too ;!
ReplyDeleteThey are pretty nifty (the socks). The Stephen West Shawl? I swear I'm still drooling over the pictures.
DeleteThat Earth and Sky shawl is so impressive and intimidating at the same time! I think intimidating mostly because I've just started knitting though. I'm looking forward to seeing your version, I'm sure it will be gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteI did just start knitting it (bad me with my many WIPs but...). After the cast on (which is a little bit odd), it's relatively easy. Generally it's knit, purl, yarn over and a couple of m1. It's the colour changing that makes it challenging.
DeleteThe Earth and Sky shawl is fabulous, what a great way to use sock yarn. You've made some great progress on all your knitting projects, I love the pattern and colour of your Ladder to the Sky socks.
ReplyDeleteI hope my E&S shawl ends up being fabulous too! I am still loving the colour for the Ladder to the Sky socks and I think it should be one of the colours that should always be in my stash.
DeleteWhat a fun neon that is! Reminds me of a bolero I used to have as a kid. Great scarf in progress as always.
ReplyDeleteNeon Bolero? I didn't even know that it came in any other colour than black or brown. I have got to look up one of those..
DeleteWow love the socks ! That shawl is great, best of luck getting the scarf done and the hat.
ReplyDeleteThank you! I am already working on the shawl. I've finished the scarf and I'm working on the hat so I have done some good progress so far.
Deletethose socks look like perfect grey day socks-- so bright and cheerful!
ReplyDeleteAgreed. Just like my bright yellow Tiberius socks, they make me smile when I see them.
DeleteLove the color of the Ladder to the Sky SOcks. SO bright and cheerful. Glad you are getting the mittens done and the scarf for your brother is very nice. Both shawls will so nice too. You had a great week!
ReplyDeleteThank you! I'm hoping to get those mittens done in the very near future. I don't trust the weather up here to stay as warm as it has been.
DeleteEarth and sky looks impressive and I love the colour of those socks. Your cables are gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteI agree and the colour is lovely :) Thank-you!
DeleteThe socks are really pretty and I love those shawls! Your scarf is coming along faster than mine although I must admit I am never using super bulky again...2 rows and my hands are tired! LOL!
ReplyDeleteSuper Bulky? I don't think I even own any needles that can accommodate a bulky yarn. Poor you and the exhaustion :P
DeleteI agree with you, how can you resist. West is a brilliant designer and I have several of his patterns in my queue! Your set for your brother is lovely and will make a great gift--I am sure he will be so pleased. Have a super week!
ReplyDelete*smiles*
Someone who sees what I'm going through! I couldn't even wait until I finished...no wait, I did finish the scarf for my brother...before I casted on for the Earth and Sky. But at least I also casted on for his matching hat. That's a good big sister move, right?
DeleteThe socks are beautiful and I love the shawls! I agree, how can you resist ;)
ReplyDeleteResistance is futile...especially with his shawls.
DeleteI love the socks, they look great! And really good progress on the scarf
ReplyDeleteWhy Thank you!
